Watching the RBS 6 Nations rugby tournament live at Daniel O'Connell's Restaurant has been a regular fixture on the Alexandria Rugby calendar since 2008. Each February and March we gather on weekend mornings with the local rugby community to watch live this storied tournament. Through the generous support of O'Connell's management and staff we are able to also use the opportunity to raise funds for and share information about our programs.
Watching the matches at O'Connell's is always a treat with it's authentic Irish pub atmosphere, terrific food and drink. The crowds for the matches are proudly nationalistic, often exuberent and always friendly - win or lose.
And for the past few years, in what seems to be a tradition in the making, we've used the final day of the tournament to raise money for another worthy charity. So far it's been a pretty good success - a small way for us to give back to the communnity. Hopefully we'll be able to keep it going for years to come.
Past community fundraising efforts:
2011 - Christchurch, New Zealand earthquake relief- $5200
2012 - Miracle League of Alexandria - $1000
2013 - Center for Alexandria's Children - $2000
2014 - Kelley Cares Foundation - $1000
Consider joining us during one of the next rounds of the RBS 6 Nations to see why we do it!
